Performance Ensemble

For Hire!

Hosting a banquet, private party, or other event that is missing that special something?

Hire the Soundscapes Performance Ensemble to perform! These seven young musicians auditioned and were specially selected for their skill and musicality. Membership in this ensemble is a highly sought after paid position available only to our most advanced students.

The Soundscapes Performance Ensemble is a group of seven student musicians who are members of the Peninsula Youth Orchestra’s most advanced performing ensemble, the Symphony Orchestra. The ensemble was created to meet the growing demand for Soundscapes to provide music for civic, non-profit, corporate, and private events. Members audition in the early fall to participate and are paid for their rehearsals and performances, giving the students valuable experience as professional musicians. The 2022-2023 ensemble includes (l-r): Christine Park (violin), Christin Cho (oboe), Tyler Pickett (violin), Emma Thomas (viola), Liam Barnstead (horn), Lorenzo Ward (trombone), and Karma Carter (cello). The group has performed at community events such as the Port Warwick Art and Sculpture Festival, the swearing-in of Newport News city officials, and events held by organizations such as Sigma Pi Phi, Rotary, Freekind, and Virginia Health Services.
